Since the launch of the Premium Asia Income Fund, Premium China Fund Management has discovered that there is a growing need to educate advisers on investing into the debt sector. Why China’s rise favours NZ over Oz – Good Returns New Zealand 5th June 2012

Jonathan Wu, the associate director of Premium China Funds Management, was interviewed by Good Returns while he was in New Zealand for the June 2012 Perfecting Investment Portfolios event.

In the interview with Good Returns, Jonathan illustrated some of the major differences between China and western countries which could benefit investors. These include China’s 15 years delayed baby boom period and traditional lack of a social safety net. Fawaz Habel, Value Partners’ senior fund manager and head of fixed income research, and Alan Wang, Value Partners’ senior fund manager and head of Chinese equities research, presented at a recent road show for Sydney advisers.

Dr Habel stated that Value Partners nearly always invest in senior investment-grade debt. This is compared to Australian debt currently being issued, which a lot of are junior debt.
